RTI’s coding system recognizes different payors’ coding standards, and takes symptomology as well as final diagnosis into account.

RTI’s professional coding services entail the “abstracting” of emergency department charts for the purpose of breaking out billable procedures, diagnoses, and other relevant data. Thanks to RTI’s application software, our coders can identify all billable charges for our clients.

Our coders perform the following services:

• Identify and bill procedures performed based on payor-specific guidelines.
   
• Define diagnoses and symptoms of the patient encounter and link them to the billed procedures.
   
• Return charts to the practice for the inclusion of missing or incomplete documentation (e.g., missing provider signature).
   
• Conduct seminars that educate physicians on such topics as properly documenting medical records for the dual purpose of justifying billable services and risk management.
